Perfect! So unique! I don't think I've ever read a fic like this.
The epitome of Monsterfucking I guess... but less explicit than you could think it to be. Just the perfect amount of attraction towards a shadow with tentacles and wings.
It was beautiful. A bit witchy in the beginning, with the curse binding, the background story about the curse of intent who will take the Winchester boys' breath away.
And I loved that Cas was this powerful, dangerous being, now bound to Dean. And their journey of falling in love was funny and soft and beautiful. I love when Cas doesn't like John. Because even a curse destined to kill Dean knew that he deserves better. John didn't even care about the curse.
Cas being always there, especially when there was no one else I'm Dean's life is so dear to me.
Of and the teacup ☕️ - it's THE symbol of this fic. The domesticated killing curse who plays with a teacup.
I wasn't really sure about Cas' purpose until the bitter end. If he was really just supposed to kill.
I liked that he remained in his shadowy form, without ever talking, only touching in ominous ways. It probably wasn't a good foundation to a relationship and theirs was probably not all healthy, but it made me feel warm and cared for.The ending - wow. I love that Dean chose to take off the necklace when he was sick.
And AHHHDHDHRHJRHRH THE REAPPEARING!! SO HOT UGH
Cas in his vessel while still being Cas and having his shadow wings skdjfjfm. Sam and Bobby were so cute about the reveal, too -

Summary
(Set right after 4.22) Castiel was not killed by Raphael on the night of Lucifer’s release. Instead, he’s sent to the year 1996 and encounters the Winchesters. Unable to return to the present, Castiel resigns himself to traveling with them on their hunts across the states.
Meanwhile in the year 2008, Dean has barely gotten used to being back in the land of the living when he gets the biggest shock of his life; the man he fell in love with when he was eighteen has seemingly come back from the grave as well, claiming to be an angel of the Lord. The thing is, he doesn’t have a clue who Dean is.

A beautiful concept! It's so interesting to think that their journey together and the building of their relationship came in two different orders for Cas and Dean. And I guess Cas' experience was less heartbreaking and less confusing. He learned to love Dean gradually. But Dean lost his love for 12 years.
Ahh how I love time travel. And season 4 Cas and pre series Dean is a very interesting combination. I loved the family vibes, the hunting and little teenager Sam. I even liked John because he trusted Cas and took him in without asking questions (still not a fan of his parenting ofc)
I love seeing Dean gay panic through Cas' oblivious eyes XD those two were cute together and Sam ships it
I felt very sorry for present Dean getting to meet Castiel without any memories of being Casper.
The way this story was told was so clever and creative. Starting when Cas got send back and then switching between the time lines and both leading to the point where Cas gets switched between times again. Brilliant thinking!
