Summary
Being King is pretty stressful; who would have thought? Ren hasn't taken care of himself to Doc's standards, and is told just so. After only the smallest push towards his regression, the king slips and leans on his caregiver for comfort. Despite their differences, Doc realizes he's been neglecting his little one for far too long and decides he needs to make up for it. He helps Ren wash his hair, braid it, and comfort him to sleep. And in the morning, after telling off the hand of the king, Doc tells Ren to take the day to relax.
Or, Doc realizes Ren's hair is a mess and it snowballs into the king slipping and looking to be comforted.

This usually happened once every time they hung out, a quick space for both of them to recharge but still enjoy eachothers company. Larisa usually found silence among friends uncomfortable, but with Moo it was different. She felt comfortable in the quiet around him, she hoped he felt the same too.

It was going to happen whether he liked it or not, that was how it always went. He’d work himself to the bone, ignoring any concerns, then deliberately looking the other way until it all came tumbling down around him.
Off-hand comments of worry were brushed off just as easily as offers to talk. He appreciated it, really, but the thought of opening up about all his woes to his friends, people who he respected and loved, only caused his stomach to churn and his heart to sink. Why should he burden them just because he wasn’t capable to manage himself properly? It wasn’t their fault, he shouldn’t push his problems on them just because he wasn’t good enough, strong enough, smart enough to handle it on his own.
And now here he was, hiding away in his base because it all became too much, wallowing in his self-depreciation and cursing himself for being so easy to upset. He didn’t want anyone to see him like this, just yet another part of himself he’d been shutting out for the past week as things began to become overwhelming. It was stupid- he didn’t need it.
OR Grian doesn't like being small and pushes it off until he can't anymore. Only this time, someone finds him and he isn't alone.

This is absolutely one of my favourite fics ever. I think it might be #1 favourite. I’ve been rereading this a lot lately, and I still can’t get over it. The writing is nice and the emotions Grian goes through feels really similar to how I feel. So I definitely love this fic and relate to it a lot. ❤️ beautiful work.
