Shelly was not popular. Most of her peers looked past her. When she talked about dinosaurs, fossils, or excavation sites, their eyes drifted. They checked something else. They changed the subject. No one stayed long enough to listen to the end.
It wore on her. She kept her notes neat. She practiced what she would say. She memorized facts so she would not stumble. None of it changed much. The other mains treated her kindly, but from a distance. They let her stand with them. They did not pull her into their circle. Not even Dandy slowed down long enough to ask what she was reading.
Dyle did.
He faced her when she spoke. He asked what period a fossil came from. He listened to her explain the difference between carnivores and herbivores. When he worked on something, he asked if she wanted to help. When a group formed, he made space for her. Small actions, clear signals. She noticed every single one.

Toodles could barely breathe as the Twisted holding her tucked her closer to his chest. One set of hands stayed wrapped around her midsection, his other pair of arms creating a cradle beneath her legs and rear for her to sit comfortably on. It was a surprisingly gentle gesture, considering that she felt like her heart was about to explode.
Twisted Scraps let out a long, chilling hiss, her horrible caricature of a smile curling into something more malevolent. Her tail snapped greedily, the sound instinctively making Toodles flinch.
And Twisted Astro only held Toodles protectively.--
The five Main Toons were the only Toons truly lost to the ichor operation, corrupted and mangled into twisted monsters. Many Toons thought they were a lost cause; there was no clear way to save them, if such a thing was even possible. Fighting for their own lives, many Toons have simply given up hope on them.
But, some Toons hadn't given up. Some Toons still thought saving the Twisted Mains was possible. Toodles was one of those Toons.And Toodles was the Toon who found the way to do it.

On the surface, nobody knows where Finn is, and people are worried. To relieve this worry, the founders create a new one. Under the guise of a redesign, this new toon takes the place of Finn the Fishbowl.
What the founders didn’t know, however, was that the toons' minds knew each other before they did.

At the head of the room, America stood loud and proud with his hands on his hips. “Hell yeah I did! I have something incredible to show you guys!”
Japan looked exasperated already, cocking his head to the side. “Well, are you planning on telling us what it is?”
“Yeah. But we gotta wait for everyone else to show up. But just trust me, it’s totally gonna blow your minds!”
Germany wasn’t so sure that claim was going to hold up.
Or: America calls for a world meeting one day, with nothing but nonsense in his request. What's the big deal? Apparently, aliens have been watching them for years without their knowledge. Might as well join them, right?
Or or: the G8 and a few other characters react to Hetalia (the anime sub specifically). I can't find any decent or completed reaction fics in this fandom, so I've taken it upon myself to write one. I most likely will be adding more characters to this and tweaking a few things, so I'll make sure to point that out if it ever happens! Enjoy :9

He drinks the tea and tries not to look uncomfortable as Zhao moves closer and closer. He doesn't know how, but somehow every time he blinks the man is closer. He should say something, but what? He’s not actually doing anything wrong. (He should move closer; Zuko is his prince, and he should be hanging on his every word. It was perfectly reasonable.)
If uncle were here, objecting would earn a stern look and a proverb on the nature of politeness and being receptive to your conversation partners.
Zuko says nothing.
Zhao is next to him now. He rests a hand on Zuko's thigh.
He wants to say something, but his head feels like it’s stuffed with cotton and his tongue won't work properly.
Wherever Zuko goes, Zhao always seems to be there, smirking & offering him tea. He doesn't want the tea-that-is-not-just-tea. But he can't explain why to his uncle, or tell him that the very thought of tea makes him want to scream (in rage, not fear, because princes don't feel fear).
