Summary
Trinity Santos didn’t expect to take in a stray on her first shift, let alone three. Who knew that the man she spent all shift teasing, even deeming him a fitting nickname of ‘Huckleberry’, was living in the hospital? Who knew that the unhoused Huckleberry also had two infant daughters? It was a lot to wrap her head around, but even then, she took them in like a couple of stray kittens.
Unfortunately for Dennis, his secret life was unraveled and revealed a day into his emergency medicine rotation. At least it was just to one person, and not the entire hospital. Who knew his hidden life would be brought to light just a few days later, while he and Trinity were at work? Who knew that after the expose, Michael Robinavitch, who already had a soft spot for Whitaker, would grow further in his feelings?
Who knew that family didn’t entirely need to be made out of blood?

For the record, he did not buy the house for Samira Mohan.
He did tear it apart for her, though. Signed the papers for it and took a sledgehammer to its walls, to the laminate of its countertops, the pink retro tiles of its bathroom floors, for her. Left intact the oak of its bannisters, its cabinets, its window framings-though he did slather those in paint stripper in an attempt to remove the layers upon layers of waxy color from the half dozen renovations that came before him-for her. Paid Whitaker a couple hundred bucks to help him shovel debris into a wheelbarrow and move appliances around in the kitchen, for her. Tore it down to its studs for her, all because she’d mentioned on the night of the fourth of July, leaning against the wall of the ambulance bay with him after the C-section, that he might try hobbies that didn’t involve being shot at.

Summary
The Fourth of July shift was another shift of nightmares, Langdon was back, Dennis was moving out, Robby was leaving, the new attending starting out her day saying she would have to repeat her R2 year if she didn't get her charting under control, and then raincheck happened. Trinity was done, and going out to the bar with Mel helped her forget about it all, even if it was just for a few hours. July fifth started with a text from Yolanda wanting to talk, and that only lit a fire inside Trinity. Instead of answering, she went to the open hours at her local gymnastic gym to let off some steam. While trying a tricky dismount from the balance beam, something goes wrong and Trinity ends up in the Pitt as a patient, only to be tended to by Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi.
