“Don’t you want to give them a spectacle?” The voice drawled, tone sickly sweet and gentle.
The voice only pulled Sonic under the waves more, drowning him in the depths of the gem’s hypnosis. His ears were buzzing as his grip slackened, the whispering around him promising to stop if he would cease clawing, and slowly he did exactly as asked. His body was floating, the pain feeling secondhand as the warm light of the ruby.
Sonic no longer had the will to pry his eyes away.

Shadow has to pick up the pieces for them both and continue. He made a promise to try and protect what little the world has left through the six months of war with Infinite.

Closes his eyes when he feels Rocky press against the ball too.

The Ryland Grace Memorial Diner sat between a construction site and a cluster of small apartments on the recovering streets of San Francisco.
It was founded in 1972, renamed in 2051, and in 2053, a statue of a schoolteacher was erected within its walls. Now, it attracted tourists and students alike, bright eyes and eager minds all competing for a view of Earth’s most beloved man in man’s most beloved habitat.
