They'd always considered having more kids when Manny was well. Someone a little closer to Luz's age who would understand her, and could be a lifelong friend. It never turned out like that, becoming the last in a long list of unfinished dreams and changed plans as the reality of their situation caught up to them. Camila knew it was for the best, she barely had enough time to look after Luz like a girl her age needed after what she'd gone through, but maybe her heart had never really closed the door on the possibility.
Whatever tentative rekindling of the prospect she'd felt at the thought of raising Vee and Luz as sisters once her daughter finally found her way home was utterly unprepared for what Luz would bring with her. Camila wasn't sure she was equipped to help Luz with everything she'd gone through in the Demon Realm, let alone look after the five otherworldly refugees staying in her home.
Manny would've definitely gotten a kick out of watching her try though.

“Hunter!”
A pool of golden light started from below his chest, enveloping the array before anyone had time to react. The three rebels, as if roused from a trance, leapt back, but the spell had already touched them. He couldn’t see anything beyond the gold... that vanished just as quickly as it appeared a second later. Hunter was left lying on the bare cobblestone, alone, with a stained breastplate and a quickly developing headache.The CATTs want to invade the Emperor's mind. Hunter wants to bust them and earn his Uncle's approval. Luz wants to interview Hunter to get proof Belos is evil. Things don't quite go according to plan for any of them, and now Luz and three rebels are stuck in the wrong mindscape. But determined to make the best of the situation, they decide to look through the Golden Guard's memories for information on the Day of Unity. They find more than they bargained for.
