genuinely some of the most beautiful storytelling i’ve ever read. i felt like i did when i was a child reading my favourite classics/fantasy books for the first time — just in awe that writing can be so powerful, so poetic and lovingly crafted. each and every description in this took my breath away. the love that the reader and phainon shared was the loveliest, most gentle and quietly enduring depiction of building affection, yearning, fondness i’ve encountered in a very long time. and the yearning! this filled me with so much joy, then it broke my heart and pieced me together so tenderly. i feel as though i’ve just returned from having been spirited away into another world— the writing was so vivid and enchanting, so incredibly beautiful. the conversation with the king at the end made me cry, and the absolutely mind blowing dialogues from mydei (about his kingdom, his friendship with the reader, his mother, his station) were SO. STUNNING. each line had me gasping. i didn’t know people could write like this, i’m so in awe of the author’s skill. to say i loved this would be an understatement. so much of this was perfect: the dialogue was so masterfully written, the details of all of the scenery (i felt like i could smell and /feel/ the briny wind and rain of the seaside town around me omg) made me feel like i was reading a favourite poem, all of the different relationships that the reader was nurtured by, the character of the reader being so quietly loving and and wonderfully brave felt so different and refreshing, and ohhhh the story line(!!!!!) i was transfixed the whole time. easily the best phainon fic i’ve ever read!! and he was so perfectly characterised- so handsome, gentle, charming, steadfast and good… my heart is so full. such a stunning piece of writing… i felt like i was actually reading a novel. this is so long but tldr- i feel so full of genuine happiness after finding this. thank you for writing this!!!
