Robbie was on the verge of breaking down right there, in front of him. It had been a tough day. Ever since he’d opened his eyes that morning, he’d felt a weight in his chest that gave him no respite. When the invitation had arrived, he’d been taken aback, of course. His heart had loosened its grip just a little more.
But he believed he could do it that day. That he would be able to play the disenchanted adult the world demanded him to be and take part in that little charade. That it would be the perfect opportunity to put an end once and for all to his stupid feelings and his stupid fantasies.
Because as romantic as it was to fantasize about another universe—one where he and Oscar would be happy together, and Oscar would love him…

He spent hours and hours wandering around the tent, admiring his work with pride. He was so talented! Who knows why they wanted to get rid of him. Then he stepped outside and gazed with satisfaction at the green expanses of digital grass, a huge lake, and a gigantic carnival. He fluttered up to the ferris wheel, wandered among the colorful stalls, and stretched out on the lakeshore.
But it was all so empty. He was alone, just like before. Where were the humans? His friends—where were they? He was starting to get nervous when an idea came to him: he had created all of this out of nothing. He could try to create… a friend. Someone who resembled him, but not in every way. Someone non-human, like him.or

It was yet another bad day for Caine. Another one of those horrible days when his thoughts gnawed at him from deep within, corrupted his code, and gave him no peace. He had shut himself away in the back of his office, where he had a spacious bedroom. It was a huge room, with a king-size bed and a massive walk-in closet. The entire space was covered with his beloved bees, but the digital walls were colored red and blue, like the entire circus.
He hated it. The color blue. It was a constant reminder of his misdeeds, of his past.or

The Episode 8 confrontation scene-
Pomni and the others are forced to distract Caine from Kinger- a final desperate bid to end his tyrannical rule in the circus once-and-for-all, but things don't go as planned.
After Ragatha is silenced and Pomni is gifted with a gigantic zipper for a mouth, Caine flies off in search of Kinger, and eventually finds him.
Stuck with an increasingly unstable AI, Kinger must find a way to salvage the situation- if there was ever a chance in the first place.

After the squad failed to distract Caine, he went to meet face to face with Kinger, who was in the process of dealing with his code. As the two engaged in conversation, Caine found himself faced with new ideas that may have sparked something in him after all… however, this may not have been as positive a change as what Kinger intended.

Caine had been trying so hard for years to get the humans to love him. He was willing to sacrifice his own mind and sanity for them.
But they never appreciated what he did for them. They never took the time to notice just how much the AI has truly sacrificed for them.
And now, now they're sick of him, and that scares Caine. If they're sick of him, then what's stopping them from getting rid of him permenantly?
No, Caine doesn't want that. And even in his own fragile and broken state of mind, Caine is willing to do anything.
Even if he does something he hadn't truly meant to do.
