Summary
Hamlet shudders in Horatio's arms, his low cry a blessing. The unseen linden-leaves shake, wild with wanting.
“Are you afraid?” Horatio gasps, his fingers fanned like wings in Hamlet's dark hair.
Hamlet nods, smile disarmed, pressing their foreheads together. “But what of that?”
It's then that Horatio knows his faith is branch and nest enough, whatever horrors may yet come to haunt them.

Summary
“Your number,” Barnabas said. He turned toward the board with fluid ease and fixed himself in a perfect stance, his wrist and fingers exact as they launched the dart in a vicious line aimed spectacularly on-target. “So I can trounce you at darts again sometime.”
Sparks flashed in Clive’s too-blue eyes, like the embers of a fire kindling to life. The urge to wrap fingers in his unruly hair and shove him against the wall nearly blindsided Barnabas; he dug his nails deep into his palm instead, almost hard enough to break skin.
“You’re on,” Clive said with the sort of confidence he could only have without knowing what he was up against. In a modern era where Eikons, Dominants, and magic are little more than fairytale drivel, Barnabas finds himself listlessly wading through a successful yet dull existence until a chance encounter pulls him into Clive Rosfield's turbulent, hopelessly charming orbit.

Summary
Hypnos has his golden eyes riveted on the fishing lure, but he's staring right past it. The pole is lax in his hands.
Zagreus knows, from centuries spent around Hypnos to varying degrees, that the guy sometimes just gets like that. A little spacey, a little airy, a little impermanent and intangible like a- well, like a dream. Something wispy and immaterial, somehow physically present and yet not here at all.
The problem is, he's been doing it a lot more lately.

Summary
“You have come to find me predictable, then,” Chaos said. They didn’t sound exactly offended—maybe calculating, or thoughtful, or their voice didn’t reflect any feeling at all, and he was merely projecting it onto them—but Zagreus felt a chill nonetheless. He imagined Poseidon wouldn’t take well to being told he was shallow and calm, or that Aphrodite would enjoy being told she was pretty but Only In A Friend Way.
“Not, uh, exactly predictable,” said Zagreus, and was cut off as the portal finally extracted the necessary life from him and he was slurped into the abyss.- Language:
