Infinite supposed he could consider this relationship long-term psychological manipulation. That was enough to justify it, of course. A deeper motive, a way to get under Shadow’s skin, not just with his teeth. A way to study the shape of that smile and those fangs and the exact pitch and rhythm of almost inaudible purrs.
Oil and water could be forced together, he knew, despite the molecular rift, and made into lye. It was fitting. For them, it was pronounced the same.
