Xiaoyao looks at the slight, battered figure. Her breath stills. Yes, this is him. Younger than she ever saw or knew him, but unmistakably him.
“Xiangliu,” She gasps, gripping onto the barricade, knuckles bone-white, “Xiangliu!”
As if he’d heard her amongst the chaos, the boy whips his head in her direction, eyes wild. The bear demon takes advantage of this opening, flinging him mercilessly to the ground.
A terrible crack resonates throughout the arena. Xiaoyao surges forth, nearly toppling over. “Get up! Xiangliu, get up!”
After a desperate prayer to the Ancient Gods, Xiaoyao is given a chance to live life once more. The first thing on her to-do list ? Get Xiangliu out from that goddamned slave arena.
