“Hey Mackerel?” Chuuya asked gently, drawing small circles onto Dazai’s spine. “Do you think maybe you feel just a little small? Even just a teeny tiny bit?”
Chuuya hoped this was the right move and he didn’t just unleash the kraken again.
And a million thanks to anyone who was listening, Dazai didn’t start to cry more. He gave a small nod, and buried his face in Chuuya’s neck guiltily.

“Yeah?” Chuuya says, pulling his baby impossibly closer. “That’s okay, then, Sweetie. That’s okay. You’re my good, sweet baby. You’re not bad, honey. You’re so, so good. My little angel.” Chuuya soothes gently, whispering softly into Dazai’s ear as he whimpers and sniffles softly.

dazai is sick and has a bad day and regresses. the poor baby cant help but feel anxious and overwhelmed and afraid, and he doesnt even know why. chuuya just wants his sweet boy to feel better.

“—I hurt you,” Susie finished. She chewed on the concept, the edges of her voice frantic, her throat thick. “Because you deserved it.”
“Yes.” Kris pressed her hands against their chest. They smiled in a way that failed to be reassuring. Each desperate breath shuddering through their lungs confirmed everything Susie didn't want to know. “S’fine. It’s okay.”
Kris burned like a charred pan straight out of the oven, or an oil fire stoked by liquor. Susie reeled away. “You—you were trying to set me up,” Susie accused, trying to edge words around the chasm opening in her gut. “You were trying to get me to hit you.”
Kris wants Susie to hurt them. They need her to hurt them. Susie isn't as on board with the idea as they are.
