Sirius, that foolish, reckless child, had gotten himself wrapped up in Gryffindor. He had made a friend of the Potter brat, had cursed on their family name and called their traditions archaic and cruel. If the boy spat upon their family as such, he had never truly seen cruelty. So, Walburga, as any proper mother and Lady of the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black should do, made him understand true pain.
