It had been a few weeks of being alone on the Hail Mary. Well, not technically ALONE— Only one other crew mate remained and his name was Jason “Rocky” Rockwell, who was still in his coma. Ryland Grace had gained most of his memories back, including the memories of who his fellow crew mates were. When Rocky finally woke, Grace realized that being alone would’ve been his worst nightmare without this guy.

Summary
It's been years since Doctor Ryland Grace saved Erid and Earth. He is content with his life, happy just to teach the next generation of Eridians and have the occasional game night with Rocky and Adrian in his dome. For the most part, nothing changes.
And that's the problem. Shouldn't Grace, y'know...age? When Rocky indicates that he should be sixty human years old by now, Grace can't reconcile the young face in the mirror with the time that his friend has religiously kept.
Things get more complicated when another undoubtedly human ship shows up at the edge of the 40 Eridani system. Suddenly Grace is playing ambassador between the two species, and tensions are rising between them. Will this be a successful second contact, or is the peaceful life Grace just wants to live too much to ask for?

Summary
After saving Grace and nearly dying in an alien atmosphere, Rocky lays an egg before going dormant.
Turns out being isolated for years and then nearly dying will force biological imperatives onto injured Eridians, and this one leaves Ryland Grace utterly baffled.
Aren't Eridians supposed to lay eggs in clutches? Only fused eggs are supposed to be viable, but when Grace accidentally touches the egg with his bare skin while trying to save it, that's apparently all the genetic fusion required for life to begin.
Ryland Grace skips a few steps when it comes to making a baby, and I test the limits of Eridian biology.
