Summary
There’s a weird moment then, where Max does put the jacket on, and then kind of just– deflates into it. Realistically, Daniel isn’t that much larger than him, but he likes his clothing a bit oversized, and it settles nicely around Max. They look at each other, and Max’s eyes go a bit half-lidded with what looks like contentment. Daniel tells himself he must just be finally warm, and ignores the matching feeling in his own chest.
Daniel never does get his jacket back. He doesn’t mind for some reason.
(Or: Daniel tries to court Max by accident, stops himself because Max is a beta and doesn't even know what he wants, and then finds out neither of those things are true. Well. Second chances, right?)

Summary
Max Verstappen spent his entire life hearing that he would be an alpha.
Alphas win. Alphas handle pressure. Alphas don’t need to ask permission to exist.
Omegas, on the other hand, are treated like risks — bodies too unstable for a sport built on absolute control. And in Formula 1, control is everything.So Max learns early on to hide anything that seems “wrong.” The need for closeness. The comfort he finds in his mother’s nests. The constant fear of being seen as weak. Because if the world already closed doors to someone as talented as his mother, there would be no space at all for him.
But secrets have an expiration date.
As the years pass, the championships pile up, Red Bull starts collapsing around him, and suppressants stop being just a career guarantee and become a matter of survival, Max realizes that maybe the hardest thing isn’t continuing to win.
Maybe it’s believing someone would stay if he stopped pretending.

Summary
In 2015, when Max first joined F1 as a fresh-faced rookie, the pack shut him out because of the wrongness and temperament that existed on him like a second skin. In 2025, Max has mellowed out and the pack, specifically the rookies, begin coming to him. Whether they are tired, angry, hurting, or unsure, Max never says no. He doesn’t weigh the risks of involving himself with a pack that doesn't claim him; he only registers that someone needs something, and that he knows how to give.
Layered on that, Max has a secret that the pack doesn’t know nor understand but they begin to circle it. It lives in the way he goes still when certain voices drop, in how his eyes glaze when someone gets too close, in how he never asks for anything and how every so often he'll disappear and return as a ghost.
OR: The 2025 rookies get attached to Max very quickly, pulling him into grid pack dynamics. Unfortunately, Max was cut from the pack in 2015 by Lewis and he still doesn't accept him. Now that Max is getting closer again, the grid is starting to notice something is very wrong with him.
