lmao this is really good!! it's *very* funny, I don't think any other fic so far has made me burst out laughing as much as this one, and each character, main or side, really feels alive. author how do you write like this, this is amazing. what I love the most though is how author portrays kaeya. I love this characterization so much. he's both a smartass and a mf dumbass, and there's also the hidden layer of angst to him that comes from his history. it's also a really sweet detail that kaeya doesn't kill hilichurls and finds other ways to deal with them.
i really liked this fic and I sacrificed sleep to read it. author hasn't touched this fic in years but I'm subscribing to it anyway, just in case

Summary
Kaeya was not an emotional man. He did not let himself get close to anyone, for fear of repeating his mistake a third time. He'd been first abandoned by Khaenri'ah, and then once more by Mondstadt. Both times because he had been too honest, both because he had gotten too close. In the cold clutches of Snezhnaya, Kaeya now had a third chance. Where he could find closure on his previous life, and where he could begin anew.
When he recognizes Lord Tartaglia in Liyue during his escape to Snezhnaya, it is both a blessing and curse. On the one hand, this could be his best chance to learn the language and have an in with the Fatui so he could find some answers on his father's death, disappearing after. On the other, it signals to him that the Tsaritsa has plans for him, confirmed by the Vision now on his hip. He could be walking right into a trap laid out for him, walking into a plan made to ensnare him when he could simply keep walking and avoid all of it. When he ultimately decides to approach Tartaglia, he does so only to get what he needed and to leave without a trace.
Kaeya could never have known that the Harbinger would be his path to salvation.

Kaeya doesn’t respond and when Diluc turns to look at him, he’s staring at him like he has been for a while. He makes no move to look away, but Diluc does. His eyebrows draw down before he glances back out at the city.
He considers that perhaps this is none of his business. It is a strange thing to get used to, not being part of Kaeya’s life anymore. It was much easier to bear when he didn’t have to see him every day.
“The apartment below us,” he answers, voice light in a very pointed way, turning his head back to the city.
They lapse into silence, and Diluc can’t quite tell if it’s uncomfortable or not.
“I know you didn’t come here to talk about the weather,” Kaeya says finally, “or where I live.”They talk on the roof.

“No, not quite,” Albedo gently chews on his lower lip in contemplation on how to simplify the concept. “The Ley Lines hold memories of everything that has ever happened in the world. It appears that this Ley Line disorder has converged the past memories with our current memories.”
Kaeya cocks his head to the side, “So we’re currently in the past?”
“I suppose you could put it like that, but it’s more like our past and our present have collided.”
“So, time travel?”
Albedo sighs, “Sure, let’s call it that.”
A growing string of disappearing people, a catastrophic Ley Line disorder, a chaotic space and a convoluted Fatui plot throws much of Mondstadt into a not-so-distant past, surrounded by uncomfortably familiar faces.
Unfortunately for Kaeya, this means forgoing a much-needed vacation to figure out what is actually going on, which is quite difficult when a certain Inspector keeps getting in the way.
And all the while grappling with the presence of a boy who looks and sounds like Diluc, but is someone far different than the man that Diluc has become.
Gods, he could really go for a drink right about now.
