Arvid's at the edge of the ramp, reaching down, his face horrified. Rain has plastered his hair to his skull, his shirt to his shoulders. He looks scrawny and young. The ramp is still lowering, still closing, and the ship is already lifting. They can't stop it, they can't, Liam won’t let them—
"Go!" Liam shouts, still winded on the ground. The words come out more as gasps than yells, but he projects a wry 'don’t be an idiot' into the Force. "Arv, fucking go!"

“So,” Isack started, gently nudging Liam’s shoulder to draw his attention away from the brown-haired boy he had spent the whole evening staring at, “How’s your completely inappropriate crush on your prince going?”
“Oh yeah it’s great, I should be killing myself any day now.” Liam scoffed, finding the luke-warm drink in his hands far more interesting than the richly decorated ballroom.
“That bad huh?”
“It’s ridiculous! I’m meant to- I can’t do anything without- ugh.” He groaned, throwing an arm out in exaggeration before taking a sip from his drink and instantly grimacing.

Arvid is a prince, son of King Daniel Ricciardo to the Crimson Bulls throne, and Liam is a knight with his father’s legacy weighing on his shoulders and has fallen head over heels for the prince he was meant to dedicate his life to protecting.

Pecco thinks it’s very sanctimonious how Valentino never followed his own rules. How little his own well-being attributed to him despite him always keeping an eye out for the riders under his care. How his own abraded fingertips meant nothing when Pecco’s own signified the end of the world.
Only this time it doesn’t takes years for Pecco to realize that while Valentino only ever wanted the best for his students, he so very rarely sought it out for himself.
Or perhaps couldn’t.
Francesco is better than his mentor in some ways - in ways that matter at least - and for that, he suffers.

In Islam, intention is maybe the most important thing.
At least, that’s what he’s always been told.
You are judged by what you mean to do. By what lives in your heart when you act. Allah, being merciful and all-knowing, understands the shape of effort even when people fail inside it.
Typically that would be comforting, only nowadays he has to discern his intention through miles and miles of murk. It's like trying to peer through tinted glass - he just doesn't know what he wants anymore.
If he intends to lean away, and doesn’t, he wonders if that absolves him of anything.

Broad shoulders were rounded, hunched over and making the powerful man look small against the cream colored stone wall. His arms were tucked between his thighs and his torso, hair falling down onto his legs where his forehead sat atop the points of his knees.Wavy brown hair now sat draped across his forehead while wide brown eyes stared up at Valentino framed by dark eyelashes. Tan skin and pink lips made Vale’s breath hitch, just as Marc’s beauty always did. But then Marc’s head tilted ever so slightly, bathing his face in the washed out light coming from the windows, the only light in the room. Silver tracked down his cheeks, highlighting the red rimmed eyes and bloodshot white of his eyes. The muscle in his jaw jumped right as he bit down on his lip hard enough that Vale swears he can see blood well up around pearly white teeth.
Something in Vale’s head was screaming: wrong, wrong, wrong."

Summary
Liam never had the Rookie experience.
It's a little fact he hardly thinks about truth be told, a small thing that only sometimes nags at the back of his mind, something so small, so irrelevant he feels a little embarrassed to even acknowledge at all most of the time, let alone allow himself to feel anything regarding it.
F1 is fast. F1 is unpredictable. F1 is harsh.
At least that was his experience: Liam wasn't taught how to navigate it, he was one of those kids who learned how to swim by being thrown on the deep end while the adults around watched with vague interest, not overly worried about the possibility of him sinking because they had other kids waiting by the shore.
He didn't know things could be different, but oh how clearly he saw that they could.
Just not for him.
Or: 5 times Liam didn't think he mattered as much to Max and the Rookies and the ensuing crash outs they had over it.

Summary
The monitor starts to blare, and nurses rush in to see what is going on. One nurse begins to time the episode, while another one pinches his earlobe. Liam starts waking up a minute and a half later. He bursts into sobs before he can fully comprehend what is happening. His body hurts everywhere, and he feels more fear than he has in a long time.
As his senses return, he can hear a nurse speaking to him in a quiet and calm voice. He can’t quite tell what she is saying, but it’s nice to know he isn’t alone. He feels like he just completed a long day of training. When he can no longer keep his eyes open, he slips into a sleep that is fueled by pure exhaustion.
