Despite all efforts, Andrew found himself in Kevin Day's kitchen. It was his first time in Kevin's kitchen and it was a jumble of messes. He had an honourable, light pink splashback and a marble looking countertop. But Andrew could see the green splosh of Kevin's kale smoothie and some residue ash that most likely belonged to Wymack. Abby could try control her boys as much as she wanted to, but she'd never be able to mask their imperfections. However, Andrew knew that wasn't her intention. She just wanted things to be clean. An admirable goal, but a useless one nonetheless.

He thinks about the weight of Naim’s head on his shoulder on the bus, the tinny melodies emitted by cheap earphones filling the space between them. Remembers how settled he’d felt, how uncertain yet still oddly calm, having only the vaguest idea where he was going but being sure about who he was going with. He looks at Naim. “Maybe, yeah.”

One second he’s halfway through a swipe, the next he isn’t moving at all, because the profile in front of him causes an interruption so physical, Mike shoots up straight on the couch. He looks down properly then, and there’s no ambiguity to it, no need to check twice.
Will. 23. Brooklyn. Illustrator. NYU. Figuring it out.
Mike sees Will’s Hinge profile at twelve-thirty on a Saturday night and, against his better judgment, makes several increasingly questionable decisions immediately afterward.
Everything after that is, more or less, inevitable.
Or, despite losing touch three years ago, Mike was always going to run into Will eventually. This is just the version where it happens like this.
