Summary
Hermes had not believed in merpeople since he was about seven years old, when he still had hopes and dreams and the starry-eyed gaze of a child with an overactive imagination. But the reality of life had crashed down upon him when his mother died, and his slow ascent into adulthood had been tainted with monotony and depression, leading to what Hermes described as a highly unsatisfying existence. He was not meant for this world. A nine to five, Monday to Friday job for the next forty or so years of his life sounded like his own personal hell, which was partly why he’d decided to try a new career path in a bid to spruce things up.
That choice had brought him here, knelt before the large indoor tank inside the lab of the marine biology research facility that sat atop a cliff overlooking the ocean, staring at a real, living merman.

Summary
Antinous is tired of waiting for the Queen, he encourages the other suitors to take over the palace. Antinous has two goals, capture the Queen to make himself and heir, and capture the Prince to keep as a toy. When the Queen doesn't survive the coup, that only leaves the object of Antinous' unspoken obsession, the prince.
This fic follows Telemachus as he is captured and turned into a human pet for Antinous. His attempts to resist start out strong, but as time goes on and the abuses continue his will to escape starts to fade and he finds a strange comfort in his new life.
(This is the alternate route my fanfic "Pet Prince" could have taken. Instead of being forced to get women pregnant Antinous prays really hard and gets the heir he wants from Telemachus. The first 9 chapters are the EXACT same as 'Pet Prince' and it diverges from there.)
