It was excruciating to watch, but at the moment, felt preferable to watching Gideon awkwardly scratch her head and ask “How’s stall set-up going?” as if it would ever be possible for the two of them to have a normal conversation.

It’s Harrow’s last year selling bone jewelry at the Dominicus Renaissance Faire before she finishes her PhD. Which means one last summer putting up with Sir Gideon, the obnoxious knight that’s been a thorn in Harrow’s side for the past three years. Keigo blinks. "That's your assistant, would it kill you to have some common courtesy?"
“Would it kill him to actually do half the work I send over right?”
Keigo rolls his eyes. "Get off your high horse, you started somewhere too."
"Yeah not at the fucking bottom, thank god. Didn't know stupid was your type."
Keigo laughs, loud and mean, the incredulity of that statement digging like the pain in the ass that Touya’s been all these months. Stupid, implied. “I dated you, didn't I? You're my stupid fucking type."
A year and some months, Keigo isn't the only one who still can't let it go. If they drag anyone else along with them, that's just foreplay.
