When he walks in, Hyunsoo is gagged and blindfolded, his hands bound securely behind him where he’s seated in a rather expensive western-style chair in the middle of the room.
Some might say the way the kid turns his head in their direction as they enter, as they slip off shoes and slide on house slippers, as they get closer, is almost eerie.
At one time, it would have made Jaeho smile. It would have made him laugh and caw, letting the laughter rip up out of him like bubbles.
This time it only makes him grit his teeth.

After Dongsoo stopped throwing him around and actually listened to what Taesuk had to say–but before he agreed to testify–they sat together in the deserted alleyway outside Dongsoo’s hideaway and shared a cigarette.
The last one in Taesuk’s pack.
“Only on one–no,” Dongsoo paused, he took a pull on the cigarette before passing it over. He was quiet, had a faraway look on his face that said the gears were turning.
Taesuk almost hesitated to interrupt. Almost. But he just let this asshole gangster kick his ass so he could get a chance to talk him into testifying so he’s gonna damn well say what he pleases.
“What? What is it? Don’t keep me in suspense now.” He leaned back into the corrugated metal shutters behind him and rubbed his forehead.
“I have two conditions,” Dongsoo said, turning to him.
“Only two? Ha, they must be pretty big then. Let’s hear it.”
Taesuk put the cigarette to his lips. He inhaled, let the acrid smoke curl up inside him before breathing it out through his nose. He passed it back.
He hoped Dongsoo would ask for something simple.

“Hey, hey Jang Dongsoooo~” Taesuk laughs, voice pitching higher than usual. The borrowed robe he’s been in since he was bullied out of his bloody clothes so the in-house doctor could take a look at him, gives up the fight and falls, baring his shoulder. Taesuk doesn’t even notice.
“Dongsoo,” he says, laughter ebbing into a gentle smile that he turns up at Dongsoo. Taesuk’s skin is smooth, unmarred. The gentle swell of muscle goes tense when he yanks on the lapel of Dongsoo’s jacket, a pebbled brown nipple is just visible beneath the fold of his loose robe. Dongsoo flexes his fists and looks away.
“What the fuck did they give him?” Oseong is glaring at Detective Jung like he’s something that needs to be scraped off of his shoe.
“Morphine,” his second smirks.
