Reki wouldn’t consider himself an anxious person. Generally, he didn’t have much to worry about! Until he did, and those worries consumed his every waking thought. Hell, they even tormented him in his sleep, leading him to wake up in a cold sweat and being unable to fall back asleep afterwards. He thinks back to the pack of cigarettes in his bedside table that he snatched from his father in secret. He swore he wouldn’t become like that old bastard and become reliant on them, but it was ingrained into the fibers of his being that stress/anxiety/any negative emotion = smoking to forget the thoughts—to clear his brain. He looks at the time, 2:07am, clicks his tongue and grabs the pack of cigarettes from his drawer along with a lighter and sneaks out his window, grabbing his skateboard along with him.
Or...
Reki is depressed and cigarettes don't hit like they used to, yet his best friend has the seamless ability to rectify that

Summary
Two cops exit the car and they start approaching him, one of them shouting, “Hey kid, what are you doing in a place like this?”
Fuck. Langa thought.
Being friends with Reki has led to him having multiple encounters with law enforcement, which wasn’t exactly something he foresaw when picking up skateboarding, but those instances were just that—casually skateboarding in places he probably shouldn’t have.
Not that this is definitively different; he also shouldn’t be skating here, but it’s harder to explain doing so in an elaborate underground illegal skateboarding ring than trespassing in a parking lot.
Or...
S gets raided by cops while Langa is mid-beef and Reki comes swooping in to save the day. They make a run from the police and the heat of the moment leads to some unexpected developments!

Summary
Kojiro and Karou were enjoying their usual post Sia la Luce closing shenanigans until a seemingly dejected Reki standing outside the door caught their attention. Just as Reki was about to turn away, Kojiro checked up on him and invited him in. Clearly doing unwell, evident enough from the fact Reki barely made a peep at all, the two men make it their mission to figure out what was upsetting their kid this much—wanting nothing more than for him to be back to his smiley and cheerful self.

Reki has a weird relationship navigating the concept of “family” when said "family" felt like foreign creatures to him, but two greater than life skaters teach him that maybe family is more than who you’re born with—more than flesh, blood, and a shared surname.
