Summary
Mycroft Holmes is a successful, yet reclusive, mystery writer whose books have topped bestseller lists for years. Mycroft’s agent, Anthea, nearly had to resort to torture to persuade the writer to allow a studio the rights to film one of his books and he only agreed after a section was added to the contract that gave him final say on the choice of actors to play the detective in his novel. The studio wants the highly profitable and extremely sexy Greg Lestrade for the role, but Mycroft isn’t happy with the choice, since Greg’s films don't fit the more cerebral tone of the novel being filmed.
Greg, however, is desperate for the role, as he’s wanted to break out of the pigeonhole he’s been confined to, acting wise, and truly get the chance to show his skills as a serious actor. The studio finally pulls Greg from a publicity tour for his latest film and sends him to Mycroft’s remote country home to do some persuading. Once there, after getting to know the secretive, brilliant and slightly-eccentric Mycroft Holmes, Greg isn’t certain which ranks higher on his persuading list - him getting a role he dearly wants or him getting a man he dearly wants. One of those however, might be winning by a nose…

Summary
Mycroft sees things other people can’t. Lights, spectres, shades, demons, phantasms, and creatures that no one else can see. Voices no one else can hear. Colours eddying around people’s bodies, visible only to his eyes.
It isn't deduction for Mycroft; it's a living nightmare that leads to self-imposed isolation. When Sherlock "dies," Mycroft finds himself reaching out for a golden slice of happiness, just one person to call his own in a landscape of horrors.

Summary
Rendered blind by an assault, DS Lestrade does not have much going for him- and if his vision does not begin to come back soon, he'll be out of a job as well. At Sherlock's suggestion, he starts to play his guitar at a local park- a park that Mycroft Holmes runs in. Not that Greg can see him, of course.
Mycroft, on the other hand, is keenly aware that Lestrade is nearby. But surely Greg would never wish to speak to him....

I consider this very definitely an AU. Most of my stuff could be shoved into some twisted version of canon compliance. Indeed, most of my stuff plays with various different ways you could color in the vast gaps in canon to create different pictures. This one, though, to me seems at the very least, unlikely. The bottom line is I consider the odds of Mycroft being a virgin OR celibate comparatively slim. Even accepting that Sherlock is wrong about many things, the two brothers seem to be in unhappy conflict over the fact that Mycroft is not a virgin or celibate, but actively gay, and Sherlock at least appears to have started the show celibate.
That said, some of the discussion of shyness, introversion, and hypersensitivity left me wondering about building an AU in which Mycroft knew his orientation, and was comfortable with it--but too shy, reserved, and hyperreactive to have done anything about it barring some preliminary activities that upset him.
So this is a late-life Mycroft is a virgin story set in an adventure. It is proving too big, so I may need to work it out over the week. I expect maybe three total posts.

Summary
Largely prose, ending in dramatic shift. Largely character study. This variant on "my" Mycroft is mature, assertive, private and reserved and controlled, but not particularly shy or bashful, and definitely not so much inexperienced as no longer in the running most of the time.
Mycroft in seductive mode. Lestrade...quite content with that.

This grew out of several weeks of trying to express something that, to me, seems probable about at least some people's sexuality--and certainly of some versions of Mycroft's sexuality. It's an element that's often expressed in terms of sub and dom, or humiliation kink, or exhibitionism. However, I think often that only approximates what is going on. There's just something insanely erotic about knowing one is seen so intensely, and allowing it--encouraging it--giving in to the desire to be observed and desired.
Within that context, you're invited to be amused by Lestrade's cleverness, and Mycroft's failure to avoid the key trap of his seduction.

And, as if I needed to reset to my own norms, this is NOT kink, though it is erotica and probably soft porn with low-key plot and a lot of character development. Yet another fantasy of a first time for Mycroft and Greg: Greg's POV. Pretty non-kinky unless you're inclined to see M/M as kinky in the first place. I don't, but that's me. The "extreme" element of this one is just two men taking some big emotional risks. More detailed than my norm. Technically it's probably the most detailed of anything I've written, I guess, though it's still not gritty.
It's been a hard, hellish week for both of them. Bad enough that Greg turns down an assignment from a weary, addled Mycroft, saying all he wants are some simple pleasures followed by a good night's sleep. To his and Mycroft's equal surprise, Mycroft makes sure he gets them.
If this worked right it's sexy, sultry, sweet as hell, and kindly. That's the intent, in any case.
