" Steph shook her head in fondness. Damian might not be her little brother, but he was the closest to one. She still remembered that day, when she had brought him to the Moonbounce and was rewarded with Damian’s genuinely smiling, possibly for the first time in his miserable 10 years of life. She remembered hoping, praying, that for all his bravado and sharp exterior, this kid would get to live out his childhood to the best that he could. He didn’t need to grow up into a fine young man, or become a medical student, or a respected vigilante. She just wanted him to have a childhood.
Maybe it was her own experience as a kid who grew up too soon speaking, but whatever. "

Imagine how different the DCU would be if Damian al Ghul did not join the Wayne family until after the events of the Final Crisis. What if 10-year old Damian was still being raised/trained in the Cradle by the League of Assassins when Tim Drake was in the midst of his quest to find Bruce Wayne lost in time? What if Tim was the first of the Batfamily to meet Damian after he lost his spleen and was dragged into the conflict with the Council of Spiders by Ra's al Ghul?

Tim knows he has the tendency to hallucinate– he spends countless nights awake, and usually by hour 48, he’s grown accustomed to the shadows he sees in his peripheral vision.
What he didn't expect to see however, was Damian coming into the kitchen dead at night, raiding the cabinets like a raccoon.He stops and stares, and Damian pays him no mind as he takes out a bowl of cereal of fruit loops, a bagel slice with strawberry cream cheese, and just when Tim thinks he’s done– Damian walks back and takes out a whole tub of marshmallow fluff.
Huh. One of the weirdest hallucinations he’s had, indeed.
