At this, Rafayel’s lips bend into a smirk, reveling in your desperation. “You think me so easily satisfied? The price to pay is much higher than that.”
You grit your teeth, resisting the urge to smack that beautiful face of his, lest you anger a deity you cannot defeat.
“Then I’ll pay it,” you spit out. “Whatever it takes. Please…just leave Rafayel alone.”
With one brow cocked in a bemused fashion, the sea god takes a moment to study you, eyeing the nervous gulp you take as soon as those words leave your lips. After what feels like the longest moment of silence in your life, he eventually bellows out a hearty laugh, riveted by your audacity.
“You’re quite loyal for a traitor,” he remarks. “Alright then, I’ll allow you a fighting chance. Satisfy me, and you may just prove your worth.”
