But he can’t. Not like this. Not mid-heat, sweaty and shaky and not himself. He doesn’t want Zanka to hear him like that. Doesn’t want to drag Zanka into this mess.
So he stays in the nest. Listens to the silence after the call ends. Lets the ache come back in.
After a few rings the choker stops ringing.Jabber tells himself it’s better this way. For both of them.

As a vampire, Zanka Nijiku should be revered. A protector of mankind. After all, that’s what the Hell Guard were. Except, he was exceedingly normal by human standards. Yes, by human standards. Yes, he was a vampire. No, he wasn’t anything special. No, he wasn’t a part of the Hell Guard, at least, not anymore.
However, he was, most certainly, a disappointment to many.
Instead of living the life of a celebrity or hero like most vampires, he was an average college freshman. Perhaps his life would be peaceful if he didn't get so many stares due to his few vampiric features. Oh, and if it weren't for the annoying prick that sat next to him in his biology lecture that couldn't take a hint that he was unwanted.
OR: Zanka is a defective vampire and Jabber is secretly a werewolf. They might kiss.
