Summary
Dean Winchester is a twenty-five-year-old travel nurse with nothing but a car to his name and wild oats to be sown. Suffice it to say, but he’s not looking for anything serious when he meets Cas Novak, a travel doctor with big blue eyes and a stupid-hot face, and the two of them spend the next few years bumping around different emergency rooms and bumping uglies any chance they get. It’s the perfect no-strings arrangement until Dean catches full-on feelings for the guy, which, given that Cas is even more committed to the no-commitment lifestyle than Dean is, is a pretty stupid thing to do.
Castiel Novak has never been one for casual relationships, but after working so hard during his residency, he deserves to have a little fun. And Dean Winchester, with his green eyes and his crooked smile and his perfectly freckled skin, is fun. And yes, perhaps Castiel should have known better than to hope for their no-strings arrangement to one day lead to something serious, but he comes to his senses eventually. He knows now that Dean is never going to feel the same way.

Summary
Family duty sent Castiel Novak home for his estranged uncle’s funeral. While helping clean out the home office, Castiel comes across an old contract, between his uncle and Castiel’s high school sweetheart, Dean Winchester. “What's no big thing?” Cas asks sharply, practically yanking him in the room and shutting the door, turning around and crossing his arms. He looks ten seconds from tapping his foot impatiently.
“It's nothing,” Dean says, looking away and scratching the back of his neck.
Cas sighs. “Elaborate, Dean, or I will be forced to draw my own conclusions. We have no idea where that will lead, so please explain.”
“I'd rather you jump to conclusions,” Dean admits, shrugging sheepishly, still looking at his feet.
“Okay,” Cas murmurs. “What it seems like is that you're attracted to me, and you either don't want to accept that, or you haven't realized it yet.”
Dean moves and sits on Cas’ bed, keeping his head pointed towards the ground. “Let's go back to never talking about it. Isn't the world about to end again or something?”
His defiance is all for naught, because Cas just walks up to him, grabs his face and forces him to look up. Dean tilts his head back and swallows, leaning away from Cas; that only proves to be a mistake, because Cas just steps forward into the space between Dean's legs, looking down at him.
And there they are, just like that.

Then, there was another flutter and Cas was back, like he never even left. In his hand, Cas presented a perfectly rolled blunt.
"I wouldn't what, Dean?" Cas challenged, arching an eyebrow.
"Where did you get that, Cas?" Dean asked, blinking at the blunt.
"There are a couple of kids a few towns over that were sneaking around and smoking. I took it from them so they wouldn't get in trouble," Cas said.
"You stole it," Dean murmured flatly.
"I helped them," Cas replied blandly. "Now, give me your lighter."
"Cas, you shouldn't-"
"Dean, shut up and give me your lighter."
"Cas, seriously, I didn't mean what I said. I like you the way you are. You're funny and really awesome to be around," Dean insisted.
"That's nice, Dean. Lighter?" Cas hummed.

He worries at his bottom lip, feeling the first seeds of dread as he leans against Shane’s bureau. He’s dressed, his bag is zipped, and it’s still dark outside. Shane sleeps, adorably, half on his stomach with his face nearly off the pillow. He didn’t need to get up as early as Ilya. You don’t need to get up as early just to drive someone to the airport.
It’s 3 am. Ilya’s flight is at 7:30 and they still need to make the two-hour drive.

At some point, you have to leave the cottage. Shane drives Ilya to the airport.
