The apartment goes very quiet. Cloud’s anger slips free of his hold, and the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end with its sudden presence.

Against all odds, Zack and Cloud make it to Midgar. Things aren't perfect, but they're happy just to be alive. There's just one thing: Cloud's memories don't match up with the stories he's been told. And there's something wrong with Zack.

He stops dead in his tracks when he sees Niragi coughing for real, heavy and with shaking shoulders, and spitting something into the sink. Something that looks suspiciously like a series of white petals.
He … he’s coughing up flower petals.
Something tickles in the back of his own throat and Chishiya suppresses a nasty cough in order to utter out: "You have Hanahaki Disease."*
