Summary
In which Max is awake, and the Byers moved back to California after S4 instead of moving in with the Wheelers, and Vecna is long dead
A post s4 fic, but not what you’d usually expect seeing those words.
No 18 month gap, no Byers living with the Wheelers.Vecna is dead. The Party defeated him at the creel house. He can’t haunt them anymore, so the Byers-Hopper clan decided to set their path straight and return to Lenora, and it’s been just over a year since everything came to an end, and Mike decides he needs a California reunion redo With Will, so him Nancy, and Steve fly out to California, and soon after the rest of the Party joins them, including the newest official members; Rockin’ Robin Buckley and Vickie Dunne.

“That she’s your soulmate? Because if you’re not 100% sure, you aren’t just killing her, you’re killing yourself, Mike!” Will shouted back, wiping a stray tear before it could fall.
Mike finally turned to look at him, “I know who my soulmate is, Will”.
Will looked up at him, “So do I, Mike, and it’s not Jane”
OR
Will travels to Maine to join his friends and family for Mike & Jane’s wedding.
But, when Mike finds out he has to marry his soulmate by nightfall on the day of his wedding, or die, Will can’t stand by and watch the two most important people in his life be taken from him.

Summary
It’s the kind of truck that belongs in a movie, shining in the early morning sun. There’s also someone leaning against it. Shirtless. That’s what gets the immediate attention of the girls.
Max gasps and nudges El, “Uh… wow.”
Lucas frowns, “Hey!”
“I didn’t say anything!” Max quips back, but she’s still gripping El’s arm as they both give the guy an eyeful.
“I’ll say something,” El buts in, grinning, “That guy is very hot.”
Will, a few steps behind them, mutters, “Here, here.”
Mike groans, “Not you too, Will.”
Will just smiles sheepishly but his voice is easy, “What? I can appreciate a good-looking guy."
OR, in the gap between High School ending and College starting Joyce books the party into a 2 week long farm stay. Mike expects a relaxing break but it quickly turns chaotic when the charming farm-hand takes a liking to Will, and old feelings, new tensions, and unexpected drama threaten to ruin the quiet countryside for everyone...

“And us?” Mike presses, a sick sense of deja vu creeping coldly over his brain.
Will exhales sharply, “We’re friends. We’re friends! You made sure of that. So I don’t know why you’re so mad at me!”
“Because it was supposed to be me!”
Will blinks, “What are you talking about?”
“I’m mad because it was supposed to be me!” Mike shouts it desperately, like a plea, like this is making him go crazy, and fuck, maybe it is, “After everything—at the end—it was meant to be me. Not him. I don’t want it to be him. I want it to be me.”
Or, Mike doesn't realize his own feelings, until Will's are staring him dead in the face. Vecna's gone, they're nearing the end of their senior year, and all of a sudden Will has a boyfriend. Everything goes downhill pretty quickly from there.
