Dan makes the same joke every time, but Phil always laughs indulgently anyway, always has the same response locked and loaded, and today is no different. Sometimes it melts Dan, makes him feel soft and cared for, indulged and spoiled. Sometimes he wants it unashamedly, to be babied a little, to be taken care of. Sometimes, like today, it raises Dan’s hackles, makes him feel Scrutinized and Judged, makes him feel- makes him feel weak. Sometimes, like today, it makes Dan angry.

Summary
Phil doesn’t let the smile slip across his features yet. He turns away from the camera, nodding down at the pile of dishes and half-emptied ingredients just out of sight of the lens. “It’s a mess in here,” he says.
Dan purses his lips and nods. “As usual.” His voice is measured, too calm for the way his eyes are boring into Phil’s. He’s waiting, primed to act the moment Phil gives in to the cloying tension. But Phil knows Dan—he knows this play. He stays quiet, watching as the silence settles uncomfortably behind Dan’s eyes. “You wanna export?” he asks eventually, words slow, careful.
Phil shrugs, then nods back toward the mess. “You gonna clean?”
Dan blinks once, twice. “All by myself?” he asks, his tone verging on annoyed, but never making it past whiny.
Phil pouts as much as he’s able, with the way the side of his mouth is quirking up. “Aw, poor bunny.”

"You bit me!" Dan shrieks.
Phil shudders, and then eyes him. "You smell good."
...
"Um," Dan stalls, trying to remember what he was doing. His mind blanks. "I don't feel well.""Oh, no, it's — sorry." Phil pauses to pant heavily as another shudder rolls through him. He grits his teeth. "It's cat-scratch fever."
Dan's definitely got some sort of fever. He's so hot he feels like ripping off all his clothes. "Yeah," he gasps out, words strained as he's suddenly short of breath, "not sure that's what's happening, mate."
- Dan helps neko Phil home from the Tube when he falls ill. Dan was just going to walk him to the door. Now he doesn't want to leave
