He finds the boy lounging on a green hillside just on the edge of the village, at the crest of a grove of apple trees. Yeshua doesn’t quite know what he’d been expecting. This boy is all long limbs and careless angles, that last push of boyhood not yet fallen away. Eyes closed, golden curls falling away from his face, skin dappled with shifting light through the leaves. He’s using a school bag as a pillow, textbooks and scrap paper covered in notes and drawings spilling out of the open zipper. Somehow, Yeshua thinks, it suits him. Smile widening, he pockets the knife and jogs the last few feet to meet him. His shadow falls over the boy’s face, head blocking out the sun.
“I was hoping you’d be here!” Yeshua grins.
The boy blinks, sluggish in that way only a nap in the sun can make you feel. He’s not confused though, doesn’t wonder who Yeshua is either. He lifts himself up on his elbows and squints up at him. “Nothing personal or anything,” Adam says slowly, “but I was kind of hoping you wouldn’t be.”

“Ilya, what are we gonna do?” Shane says.
Ilya finishes whatever he has been doing on his phone, and tosses it gently to the bed beside him. He crosses the room to Shane, stands in front of him, squeezes into his shoulders with his big hands, rubbing them like he means to warm them up.
“Looks like we will have a little vacation,” he says, with a big obnoxious grin.
Boston and Montreal are sent to Paris to play against each other in an exhibition series in January 2017. Ilya and Shane decide to stay in Paris for one more night. Just one more night, so they can talk. Maybe finally understand each other.
They aren't expecting a volcano to erupt in Iceland and close all the airspace in Europe, leaving them stranded there. Together.
