Summary
Now look, Eddie has never claimed to be the world’s nicest guy. He’s often claimed the opposite, in fact, in the name of getting shithead bullies and jocks to leave him and his alone.
And Harrington is no saint, either. Sure, he’s turned over some kind of new leaf since last year, ditching the assholes he used to hang out with and mostly keeping to himself (particularly since November, when his busted face had been the talk of Hawkins High), but he’s been part of enough sportsball-related hazing rituals for Eddie to assume he can at least take a joke.
Anyway, the point is, when he’s given occasion to realize that King Steve seems to be afraid of the dark, Eddie isn’t quite able to resist the urge to poke at him. Just a little.

Summary
Steve Harrington feels stuck. Both in his head, and in life as everyone moves on around him. He always felt it, but now it has a hold on him unlike anything he’s dealt with before. It’s autumn of ‘86, the upside down is left broken and disconnected, and nightmares become reality. Steve is left maneuvering old feelings, grief, and guilt. This comes to a head when Eddie comes back. The problem is, Eddie isn’t quite Eddie anymore. With the creatures of the upside down afraid and angry, Hawkins still in disrepair, and a government unwilling to do more than quarantine and control- the party must decide if they’re willing to risk letting a spy into their circle or potentially lose Eddie all over again.

It was the beautiful symbiotic relationship of two gay dudes who would forever be a stain on the collective American moral conscious. And he loved being a stain on moral consciouses.
But Steve fucking Harrington, the goddamn bastard, is making him yearn. Tore the Munson Doctrine to shreds, the sacrilegious asshole.

He doesn’t try and carry him back to the trailer, nothing like that—if he could manage that on determination alone, then he would, but his throbbing leg has other ideas.
So he stays by Eddie’s side. Throws off his hoodie and starts to rip any piece of his clothing that he can, because he’s come a long way from when he once stuck bandaids on Steve’s beaten up face.
“What… what are you doing?” Eddie says in between gasping breaths.
Dustin would laugh if he wasn’t so scared. “Buying more time,” he echoes.

Steve continues, completely ignoring Eddie, “You’ll wipe your feet. You’re not dragging dirt all over my car. No hitchhikers. No cutesy road games. No smoking in the car. I’m not paying for all the gas.”
“Ass, gas or grass, got it,” Eddie says, like he's taking this very seriously. He is not taking this seriously.

The crow hopped closer, then, until it was almost atop Geralt’s hand. He caught a flash of something shiny around its leg, but when he made to reach for it, the crow skittered backwards, making another low rattle and fluffing up its feathers.
“It’s alright, I just want to look,” Geralt soothed, stilling his hand. The rattle stopped, and the bird hopped hesitantly closer. Geralt waited for it to come to him, motionless and patient. Only when it perched on his hand did he bring it closer, peering intently at its leg.A silver chain, so fine as to be nearly invisible to the eye, wound its way around the crow’s leg. This close, he could see the barely-there, shimmering aura around it—it was surely enchanted. A binding charm.
Geralt whistled lowly. “No ordinary crow, then,” he surmised, though he’d already known. “Human?”
The crow rattled its displeasure at the term—so it wasn’t transfigured, then. But it was still clearly sentient— “Ah,” Geralt said. “A shifter.”
