The world seemed to narrow down to just the two of them. Soren felt a flutter of panic mixed with something warm, something he couldn’t ignore as their eyes met. He stammered in a panic, “I… I didn’t expect to find you here…”
The panic in both Soren’s voice and face made Corvus get up. “I can leave…”
“No!” The word shot out of Soren before he could stop it, his heart leaping. Corvus froze and then sat back down, studying Soren with a cautious, almost hopeful look. Soren swallowed, walking towards Corvus. The silence thickened around them. “I want you…” He placed his hand on Corvus’s arm, feeling the warmth of Corvus’s skin so clearly. “To stay,” he finished, his voice barely a whisper.
Their eyes were glued together as Soren sat down next to Corvus. Soren could feel his pulse raging as he took a slow, shaky breath. His gaze drifted down to Corvus’s lips, and he leaned in, heart pounding. “Can I try…?” he murmured, the words tumbling out before he could stop himself. But halfway through, he hesitated.Series
