Summary
“I, uh, came to ask for a ride."
Luca glanced sideways at Boodram, who was frozen with one arm in his jacket. It truly would have been hilarious, the way they all watched this scene unfold like a car crash, if it didn’t also feel like one.
They shared a confused glance, turning back when Rozanov’s incredulous “A ride?” rang through the locker room.
“Yeah, I, uh, figured I could use one since I just…quit the Metros,” Hollander said slowly, heaving an exhausted sigh afterwards.
In which Shane Hollander overhears his teammates talking about him before a game and ends up in the Centaurs' locker room, asking Ilya Rozanov for a ride.

Summary
Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov’s relationship is probably the worst-kept secret in the NHL, and it’s entirely their own fault. 11 years is a long time to keep a secret, and Shane and Ilya are really, really bad at sneaking around.
Or: A look into Shane and Ilya’s relationship over the years, from all the people who walk in on them, one way or another.

Summary
Ilya knows that no one loves the same version of a person; his Shane is different to Yuna’s Shane, who is different to David’s Shane, who is different to J.J., or Rose, or Hayden’s Shane. And while Ilya knows he’d fall in love with every single version, he’s happy he gets this one. Happy he gets the Shane who lets himself be trusting, and vulnerable, and honest.
It makes Ilya wish he could have loved Shane earlier - makes him wish he could have known him longer. But he’s just glad he gets to do it now, here, like this.
(Or, four times people are surprised by Shane’s clinginess, and one time they completely expect it.)

Summary
Shane had his life figured out. A new job in the city he grew up in, a boyfriend he loved and a (more or less) solid friendship group.
Sure, he'd had to give a few things up, but he didn't mind all that much. Good relationships take effort. Compromise. Sacrifices.
Shane could deal with it.
Enter Ilya Rozanov.
Or: Shane is ready to settle and choose his shitty boyfriend over his own happiness. Ilya shows him he can have it all.

Summary
“Uh,” he says, looking up from his screen and feeling his ears go hot, realizing for the first time that this habit of his hasn’t actually come up before until this exact moment.
“What?” Rozanov asks, sounding more amused than anything else. “You are one of the people who does Instagram for food now?”
“No,” Shane says, stalling between answering and finishing his Snap so he can send it to Melissa, “one sec.” He finishes typing out 'Tuna melt. Chips. Pickles. It smells really good. Swiss cheese, I think.' before he looks back to Rozanov, putting his phone facedown on the coffee table. “Just sending it to someone on the staff. She likes knowing what I’m eating.”
He doesn’t know if Melissa likes knowing what he’s eating, per se, but she also seems pleased when he talks about enjoying food for things beyond how many grams of protein it has in it.
“Ah,” Rozanov says, in a tone Shane can’t quite read. “You always send her your food then, this girl?”
(shane has a habit of sending his team's dietician his meals for approval) (the problem with this habit? he forgets to tell ilya exactly what it is that melissa does) (how the tuna meltdown is AVERTED through the power of miscommunication)
