Summary
With Wolfwood's newfound courage to be emotionally open, he asks Vash to come with him on the ships. When Vash turns him down, he escapes into the desert, hurt and confused.
The stolen glances. The trust. The soft way Vash spoke when he looked at him.
Was it all in his imagination? Was he just seeing what his heart wanted to see?
Wolfwood racks his brain to try and understand when he sees that Vash chased him down. Longing to run behind the safety of the emotional walls he always kept up, he has to confront his pain instead.

Summary
This is easy. This part of the after. Conversations that don’t mean anything. Conversations about bad smut and the garden that’s failed, because neither Vash nor Wolfwood have the ability to keep even hearty things alive in the climate. Talking about Wolfwood’s troublesome motorcycle or Milly and Meryl’s latest front page story. All easy and palletable. Frustratingly empty and Wolfwood feels himself losing Vash with each of these conversations.
“Vash.”
Vash’s eyes darken immediately. “Hm?”
“We should go somewhere."
“Go somewhere?”
“Sure. Why not?”
“Why so?”
Wolfwood came prepared for this. If he tells Vash that he’s worried Vash is withering away here in this house, that Wolfwood misses his spark, his life, that Wolfwood can’t bear how little he can help him, then Vash will find a way to dismiss it. Talk around it, laugh it off and tell Wolfwood to go visit Livio in November or join Midvalley when he travels.
“You’ve been all over the place, yeah?”
Vash’s mouth purses lightly. “Sure.”
“Well I sure as shit haven’t, you should take me somewhere.”
Or Vash and Wolfwood heal in the aftermath of Knives one destination at a time.

Summary
Wriothesley shoves his hands into his pockets and watches his own feet for a moment. "I've… been sleeping, yes."
Neuvillette reaches out and catches Wriothesley by the elbow, and they both pause mid-step. Wriothesley turns in his grip, realizing belatedly that the move positions him within inches of Neuvillette's face. Wriothesley meets his gaze for only a moment - Neuvillette is staring at him with such intensity that he can't help but avert his eyes.
"You must think me an exceedingly poor judge," Neuvillette says lowly, "if you think I cannot tell you are lying."
Wriothesley can't sleep - like, at all. Except, of course, when he's around Neuvillette. Then he can hardly stay awake.
Written as a character study of Wriothesley and a dive into the trauma he faced as a child, and what might happen if an unwelcome face from his murky past surfaced in the Fortress of Meropide, right under Wriothesley's nose.
