Summary

Centuries have passed since the Second Rune Wars. Magic is forbidden. Mages have been erased from history, their very existence reduced to ash. To speak of the arcane is a crime—dangerous, treasonous, unthinkable. But when Jayce helps unearth a statue half-buried far outside the ruins of Piltover, something about it unsettles him. A memory he can’t quite name. Something old. Something arcane.
Desperate for answers, he enlists the help of Viktor, the archivist in charge of cataloguing artifacts from the site. Together, they begin to fill in the gaps left by historians who refuse to even utter the word arcane.
But the more he learns, the more he realizes that his connection to the stone may run deeper than he ever imagined.
Worn, scarred hands chisel away at stone. For a blacksmith whose job was never to carve skin from stone, only steel from fire, it’s surprising he’s gotten as far as he has. The body of the statue is nearly complete, the face still only just shaped, awkward, jagged angles that will soon be smoothed away to form the face of his lover. His soulmate.
