Summary
Will Byers’s Friday night is admittedly not going as planned.
And things had been going surprisingly well, lately, for someone who’s spent the majority of his life feeling more than a little cursed. A radioactive spider bite and extensive childhood trauma will typically do that to you. He would maybe appreciate being New York’s most elusive superhero a little bit more, if he didn’t have to deal with this shit interrupting his life.
This shit in question being bodied by a 500-something-pound mutant in the sewers, to then braining himself on the wall, and having his chest clawed to shreds by said lizard creature.
Oh, and he’s pretty sure he’s drenched in what is at least 80% pisswater right now. Awesome.
What Will should be doing right now is having a movie night with his best-friend-newly-turned-boyfriend, tucked against him on their shitty thrifted couch, in their cheap apartment in Queens.
God, Mike’s going to kill him, if Will doesn’t manage to bite it before getting home to him first. The thought of Mike bitching (and the guttural roar still echoing from the tunnels) is enough to get him moving again, slingshotting himself the hell out of there with a flick of his wrist.

“Your boyfriend?” she prompted, speaking quite slowly and carefully as though she was talking to a toddler, “You know, the fake boyfriend you use as an excuse every time someone asks you out?”
Will blinked surprisedly, then cracked up laughing, “What?” he said, “Fake boyfriend?” he repeated, grinning, “You do realise — you know my boyfriend isn’t fake, right? I do have a boyfriend. For the past year and a half, actually.”
Will Byers’ boyfriend is something of a myth amongst the residents of RISD. Nobody has met him, he supposedly helped to save Will’s life, and he goes to Brown. Seriously… who is this guy?

Will loved ordinary things, an uneventful existence was something he craved. Sadly, when Mike Wheeler walks into his life, Will’s easy going path snaps right in half. A passion he could never imagine overtaking his whole being.
It was too bad their friend groups hated each other and his sister had a huge crush on the musician. Off limits.

Will Byers doesn’t consider himself brave. He considers himself a HD student with a low tolerance for vodka and a talent for leaving early. But bravery, it turns out, isn’t always loud. Sometimes it's handed out like permission slips at crowded college parties: permission to drink too much vodka, to flirt badly, and take a hit from someone else’s cola flavoured vape.
