A quiet sound caught in his throat—a half-stifled breath, nearly a whimper—and he pressed his lips shut to hold it back.

His teeth sink into Yin Yu’s shoulder without hesitation as if to prove his loyalty, staking a claim on him. Yin Yu kicks out a leg at the sudden spike of pain, a high-pitched noise being torn from him as the limb harshly bangs against the wall.
The sudden movement could have been seen as an act of retaliation, yet Yin Yu was ashamed to admit to himself that it wasn’t. Truth is, he had no intention of breaking away from the one behind him.
