Inspired by 'Temporary Temple Guards' - must read to have context for this fanfic.
Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi is left without backup, without guidance, and without a home to return to after the Jedi Temple falls. With a gaggle of children now relying upon him to protect their future as the Sith Empire rises, he must grapple with his complicated history and return to Mandalore. He is more than aware that as a Jedi, many Mandalorians would be happy to kill him without mercy, the only comfort is his familiarity with their culture, that even if they kill him, at least they will protect the children, and that ultimately has to be enough.

Obi-Wan made a punched-out noise of desperate disbelief, but it and his racing thoughts did not slow the cascade of information, each sentence more horrifying than the last.
"Had your bond been broken, this would be a very different conversation, but seeing as Skywalker has chosen to maintain it, he may try to use it against you—or us."
"Because Skywalker has never been to the new temple before, we deemed it safe enough for one last trip,"
"I see." Obi-Wan rasped out, his throat tightening and his vision blurring at the thought of his future banishment from the Temple, and ostensibly the Jedi Order. After all, who would trust him with the future of their Order, with another Padawan, when he failed so miserably with Anakin?
"We're giving you three days to rest and refuel, but we have to ask that you take off again."
Or,
In a galaxy dominated by two Empire's keen on destroying the remains of the Jedi Order, Obi-Wan must never return to his family after his padawan, Anakin Skywalker, falls to the dark side out of fear of their force bond leading the sith to the Jedi's doorstep.

They would joke and prod and lecture about the mando'ade propensity for finding lost individuals and accepting them as their own. But rangir! This was his first time, and it would probably be his last.

The answer left Jaster speechless.
Ben sounded wounded– hurt in a way which would not heal with time alone. He looked like a tired Verd, a battle-weary warrior. Jaster had seen the look before. Many Verde wore it. The glint of deeply rooted pain sparked in Ben’s eyes too.
Instead of asking more, Jaster turned his head to watch the sunrise along with Ben.
It was peaceful.
The dawn of a new day.

Summary
The custom is common knowledge in Germa - not so much in Wano. Handing over an omega when you're suing for peace after a humiliating defeat is standard practice, but once the discrepancy is discovered, it's already too late. Despite his misgivings, Zoro will have to take responsibility for a man he's never met, and navigate a situation in which neither of them can be happy.
He wasn't planning to get married. And while Sanji hasn't been allowed to see any other future for himself, the circumstances are less than ideal. They speak of the warrior as if he's a wild beast, and he certainly looks the part. And while he's determined not to fold right away, he knows it's only a matter of time before he'll be begging him.
