    “I want to watch the sun rise.” Ben muttered, “It reminds me that even as the dark sets in, the light will come back around eventually. It always does. It has become hard to remember that recently.”

    The answer left Jaster speechless.

    Ben sounded wounded– hurt in a way which would not heal with time alone. He looked like a tired Verd, a battle-weary warrior. Jaster had seen the look before. Many Verde wore it. The glint of deeply rooted pain sparked in Ben’s eyes too.

    Instead of asking more, Jaster turned his head to watch the sunrise along with Ben.

    It was peaceful.

    The dawn of a new day.

    She hides her face into the pillow, finally letting the tears fall and soak into the fabric in relative privacy. He waves his wand and mutters healing spells over her back. She can feel the lashes knitting together and grits her teeth against the pain, his healing is a fair bit rougher than the more practiced hand of Madam Pomfrey. With the banging still continuing down the hall and the events of the last hour catching up to her, Harrie’s head finally clears enough to realise one huge problem.
    “Wait Sirius, No - no the trace” she pushes up onto her hands and turns to face him, he must have finished already as she's able to do it with minimal pain.
    “The Ministry will blame it on me, they'll - they'll come and -they can't see you here!”
    “Let them come Prongslet, We wont be here.“

    In the summer after the Triwizard Tournament, Harrie is stuck at the Dursley's once again. When her Godfather gets a concerning letter from her he decides it's finally time to do what he was supposed to do after Halloween 1981, find her real father.

    Summary

    Aposematism in animals is designed to prevent attack. It doesn't always work, sometimes it's ineffective against some predators, sometimes it isn't. As a primary defence mechanism, Newt is a colourful individual with his blue coat and golden hair. His secondary defences aren't visible however and often are what surprise his opponents the most. Bright creatures tend to be very toxic to predators, but mammals like honey badgers are aggressively defensive. Newt is a Hufflepuff and the emblem of his house suits him well. Signalling theory tells you that Newt warns off predators and opponents with his colours, but when they don't take heed he'll show his claws and fight tooth-and-nail. It's what survivors do.

    And Newt Scamander is definitely a survivor.
