What should one do or feel when he discovers that his old friend has been erasing his mind, over and over again, for almost as long as they've known each other?
Most people would react with anger or distress. Perhaps they'd consider it a betrayal. But Olruggio isn't most people. Nor is this a situation anyone else would ever find themselves in.

"I choose to care for you, and it's not something I do out of obligation or to be kind. I've chosen to care for you every day of my life since we met, and I would choose it all over again. Because I love you, Qifrey. And believe me when I say I would do so much more for you."
Qifrey froze, mesmerized by the words he already knew were true, but still enchanted to hear them spoken aloud, coming directly from the man who dedicated so much to him. It was as if there, in that warm, cloudy bathroom, Olruggio had managed to put into words all the care he offered him every day.
