Someone shifts next to him.
Oh, was it one of those nights, he wonders? Raising a curly eyebrow, he tilts his head, grabbing the sheets covering the other person to yank them down and tell them they have to go now. There are two things he sees that snap his memories back into place:
One, the silver band on his ring finger glinting mischievously in the dim lighting of the sun through the cracks the curtains provide.
Two, the person asleep next to him is not a faceless, nameless stranger but the damn Marimo himself.

Summary
Zoro had always believed that a sword was honest. Not noble or sacred. Not any of the romantic nonsense people liked to attach to them.
A sword revealed exactly what its wielder was. A weak hand produced weak cuts. An uncertain heart created hesitation. A careless swordsman left flaws in every movement, every strike, every decision. Steel exposed every mistake without mercy.
That was why Zoro trusted swords more than people. People lied. People hid things. People pretended. A sword couldn't.
Maybe that was why Zoro couldn't stand careless people touching his swords.
Zoro frowned. That thought had come from nowhere. Or rather, from somewhere he preferred not to examine too closely.
With a sigh, he opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling of the Sunny. Somewhere above him, breakfast preparations had already begun. He could hear the distant sound of chopping.
For some reason, he found himself listening. Just for a moment. Before eventually muttering a curse, getting out of bed, and heading toward the kitchen without quite admitting—why.

It was becoming ridiculous. The weights felt lighter, the sake tasted flatter, and the horizon kept blurring into the memory of a golden head under the galley lamps.
One of these days, the discipline would slip. The exhaustion or the adrenaline would catch him off guard, and his body would move before his pride could stop it. He would reach out, he would touch, and the truth would be laid out on the deck between them like a drawn blade.
And knowing that stubborn, beautiful idiot, he would never let Zoro hear the end of it. But as Zoro closed his eyes and listened to the distant, rhythmic chop of a kitchen knife from the deck below, he realized, with a grim and quiet certainty, that he might not even care.

After the tumultuous events of Whole Cake Island, Sanji finally gathers the courage and decides that as soon as they reach Wano, he'll confess to Zoro.
But when he steps into the land of Wano, the first thing he sees is Zoro with Hiyori.
As Sanji moves closer, he watches Hiyori place her hand on Zoro's shoulder, and sees the kind of smile on Zoro's face that he's never given anyone else.
All the words Sanji had rehearsed for months die in his throat. He doesn't move forward. He doesn't step back. He just stands there, watching, as his heart breaks into pieces.
He tries to forget this one-sided love as if it had never come to him… even if every time he looks at Zoro afterwards, the old wound reopens.
