Summary
Zorion went to stand over Roland's staked body. The blood and gore that had covered him since his rampage had mostly dried: an ugly, reddish-brown mess that caked his skin and hair and clothes. His eyes were wide open, and the blood on his face made them look greener even in the dim light of oil lamps and torches. He was deceptively helpless. A more prudent man might have kept him like this.
Zorion unstakes Roland after his frenzy in Bistrița. He needs to have a few words with him before he'll let Roland wash off the blood.

Summary
Miles hadn't expected to survive these final nights. But he had, and he'd stayed in New Haven with his coterie. So now he had to face Neil and everything they both couldn't forgive each other for. He had to face Johnny and the fact that he'd rejected Miles. He had to face the idea that Ira might become more to him than a casual distraction.
And as if all that hadn't been bad enough, the Setites had done something to him to make him frenzy at court. Now he felt everything Johnny felt, and Johnny felt everything he felt, and it was becoming a fucking problem.

Summary
"You did well out there," Zorion said once they were alone. He sounded pleased. Pleased the way a man was pleased with an obedient dog.
Roland bared his teeth. One could have called it a smile.
"You mean I did as I was told?" he asked sharply. He stepped forward into Zorion's space and let the inches of height he had on him do their work as he looked down at him. "I did what I did because you happened to be right this time. Not because you commanded me."
