It’s gonna be a long trip.
When I finally found Rocky, stranded in the middle of nowhere, I thought I was going to die. I thought I was going to slowly starve to death. But when I banged on the Blip-A’s hull and suddenly heard Rocky's voice through the radio, it was the best moment of my life.
But, you know…. I am still, actually, going to starve to death. I hate it when reality sets in.
On the long trip to Erid, Rocky and Grace discover music together. But for Grace, the road gets harder and harder.

There’s silence on the other end.
“Why?” is all that comes next.
Inconvenience.
He’s always an inconvenience.
Ryland sucks in a deep breath that leaves him coughing. “I don’t feel… I d-don’t feel very well, and… I t-threw up, and I…”
His voice gives out before he can finish.

Summary
When Rocky wakes up after Adrian, he's relieved they're both alive, but immediately knows that something is off with Grace. He's having trouble breathing, sleeping a lot, and spiking fevers. As much as Grace wants to blame it on lung irritation from the ammonia in Rocky's atmosphere, Rocky knows he's downplaying it, and it's not going to work.
However, before he can actually do anything about it, the ship's power goes out. Taumoeba have gotten into the fuel and eaten all the astrophage, leaving them with no choice but to steal from the beetles.
Which are on the outside of the ship.
Which means two EVAs and a lot of lab work for Grace, all while his condition declines from what's quickly turning into a serious health problem. All Rocky can do is make sure he has what he needs and try to take care of him as best he can from afar, hoping they can get to safety before Grace's health is too fragile to recover.Bookmarked by lenweh

Written for a Tumblr prompt by one-step-at-a-time25/Incorrectlyright:
"Someone should write Rocky trying to tell Grace that he loves him and Grace doesn't understand and is using a bunch of other words. Once they get it Grace has to describe what love means and Rocky just says it over and over to him."
I really need that man to know he's loved, especially on the way to Erid, while he's leaving everything else behind because he loves his friend.
