Steve could never forget it.
No matter how hard he tried.
Crimson skies above them, as dark as the bloodsoaked ground beneath them. The furious cacophony of screams and explosions, a grim aria heralding death. The cold seeping into the marrow of his bones, hidden behind the heat of exertion; the breath of the Grim Reaper himself.
Sometimes he thought he could hear it among the chaos, the swishing of his scythe.
The quietude of finality.
The stillness that followed was forever burned into his mind; Tony on his knees, his whisper carrying across the field in echoes.
Blood and mud squelching disgustingly beneath his boots, tripping over torn-off limbs and lifeless bodies after the snap, screaming himself raw as he called-

Summary
Many journals from all over the world and of varying degrees of credibility published studies on Hanahaki Disease. A nearly mythical condition; flowers taking root in your lungs, slowly suffocating you as you cough up their dainty little petals. It was, supposedly, a result of bottling up one's feelings or of them not being returned; some others claimed that there was a deeper meaning behind them, that the flowers were meant to convey the message to the poor bastard that contracted them. The actual cause of it remained unknown.
House thought it was nothing more than mass hysteria. Or some strange somatic ailment manifesting physically.
Until he didn't.
He saw a man - still bright and smiling, soft with peach fuzz and the faded scent of baby powder clinging to his skin - throw a bottle through a window at some bougie doctor party.
He bailed the man out of jail. They went to get a midnight snack. They laughed and joked as though they've known each other their whole lives; as though the Universe shifted to bring them together.
House started coughing up petals the second he stepped through his front door, giddy and drunk and alive like he never felt before. -

Johnny Cage's directorial debut, Mortal Kombat, was a massive success. With his and Liu Kang's plan to inform the public of Outworld and their story through high fantasy films well underway, Johnny invites Kenshi and co. to the premiere of the second installment. Of course, the sequel is a instant smash hit, however, Johnny and Kenshi's friends, as well as fans of the movie, point out that the fictional portrayal of Johnny and Kenshi's unlikely friendship makes it seem there's something much deeper going on between the two.
