Arthur heard the wet and rasping sharp inhale but didn’t understand until he heard Gwaine’s shrieking, “holy fuck!” and spun around in time to see Merlin fling himself upright, a hand flying to his chest as he bent double, he heard the sick cracking of Merlin’s shoulder being shoved back into place by some invisible force.
And then Merlin was scrambling up, slipping in his own blood to skitter across the floor to fall into Leon’s lap. “Please, wake up,” Merlin whispered, falling forward to press his forehead to Leon’s.

“Arthur,” he looked between them. “Merlin.”
“Leon,” they had said it at the same time, and in the flickering torchlight which illuminated only a dim section of space in the dark tunnels, their faces were cast in a hue one might’ve thought suspicious.
“Is everything alright, my lord?”
“It’s perfectly fine. We’re…” his voice trailed out as he glanced to Merlin, faltering. They exchanged a look which Leon could not understand, before Arthur turned back to him. “Merlin, tell Leon what we’re doing.”
“We’re…” Merlin looked to Arthur, and it was obvious from his expression that he was at a loss, however it was only momentary. When he turned back to Leon, his face had changed; it had grown resolute, decided. “I’m teaching him some poetry.”(Poetry… not an innuendo used by most, but in that moment, in the dark and insinuating corridors of the palace, how could Leon not have jumped to conclusions. Because why else would Merlin and Arthur be sneaking around in the dark by themselves if not to… well, you know.)

So really, he thought, a simple trip to the wizarding world for tea couldn’t possibly be that bad.
He was wrong.
Now he’s somehow become the unofficial emotional support adult of Hogwarts, is being hunted by the house-elves because he keeps fixing castle structural problems himself, dealing with a basilisk situation that Merlin is “pretty sure he dealt with once already, back in the 5th century.” and trying to stop Gilderoy Lockhart from deciding that he is his "professional rival."
Merlin regrets stepping outside...
