When Caine somehow concludes that Pomni must be in love with Jax, he enthusiastically tries to set the two of them up. With her suspicions of Caine only growing, Pomni decides that the best course of action would be to play into Caine's fantasy. Plus… Wouldn't it be kind of fun?
OR
"Well, then what was all that? Was it supposed to be some weird, special event he roped you into or…?" Zooble asked.
"N-No, it's that— I mean, Caine was right."
Ragatha looked befuddled, "Um… Right about what…?"
"Right that—That we're in a relationship. I am, I mean— with Jax."

Summary
The cast isn't doing well after the fake exit adventure... both from having their spirits shattered with the false hope and also from the revelation that Caine has the ability to mess with their minds.
Maybe it's better to just let themselves abstract... fade away into the circus with everyone else... maybe it's the only way to get one up over Caine. Letting him suffer the consequences of his actions and be left alone in the circus, like he was afraid of.

Summary
It's been weeks since Jax abstracted. He's been confined to the big purple tent, devoid of any light, because darkness keeps him calm. The others visit when they can stand to, though it’s not often. Pomni visits every night.
She tells herself it's just to check on him, that they were friends, and friends do that sort of thing. But then she starts talking to Jax, or whatever is left of him, about everything and nothing all at once, and somewhere along the way she starts to notice things she can't explain. The way the creature goes still when she speaks. The way it tilts, almost imperceptibly, toward her voice.
He's abstracted, and this shouldn't be possible, she thinks. That is, until Pomni begins to do her research and understand what abstraction really means- what it takes from a person, and more importantly, what it leaves behind. She has a theory, and the window to act on it is closing fast.

Summary
Jax goes missing after the escape-the-circus adventure. He’s only found a day later, at the edge of the grounds, staring off into the void with hazed eyes, unable to speak or even move.
Caine doesn’t know how to fix this- He can’t control anything related to the void! And so it’s up to the rest of the cast to watch over him as he recovers-
If he ever will.
