Not even her mother, wild Belladonna Took Baggins could change Bungo Baggins’ mind, and none of her attempts a feminine nicknames could overcome the staying power Bungo’s certainty that Bilbo was now a perfectly respectable girls name for his daughter. And so by the shear force of will of one hobbit, the shire accepted Bilbo as perfectly acceptable name for both girls and boys.
