Eddie wears it like a brand.

Steve’s warmth. He touched me, Eddie thinks. He touched me.

    It wasn’t cold.

Somebody touched him and it didn’t feel cold. Didn’t hurt.

Fat lot of good it does, other than add yet another memory to- yearn? pine? despair?- over, but still. It’s something. It’s everything, maybe.

    ---

eddie comes out of the upside down with a missing nipple, an inability to warm up, and a beginning-to-get-concerning increase in his adverse reaction to touch. worse, still- steve harrington's magic hands appear to be his own personal cure-all.

    Bookmarker's Notes

how deeply i love the push and pull of robby and dennis in this one. their oftentimes wordless communication is something so envy inducing. they hurt and take and give and cradle each other in those moments that are solely theirs. and it's beautiful. and it saves their souls a fraction every time. but they don't fall in love. it's went on for as long as it needed to- as long as it had the room to go on- and now it is no more and yet it will forever go on. with other people, in perpetuity. saving other people's souls.
i really liked this. i like the religious guilt whitaker is dealing with and then how it bleeds into a more forceful way of saving robby's soul. i thought it was written in a very powerful way.
