Rozanov gestured at the air between them. “So, perfect time to start our first real assignment. It’ll make Levett happy.”
Shane glanced at the wall clock behind Rozanov, which definitely read 11:09. “We could get in trouble for this. It’s not boring to do the job right.”
“Mm, yes it is.” Rozanov grabbed a stuffed manilla folder and shoved it into Shane’s chest. “But don’t worry. I will drive.”
Years after dropping out of college hockey and stumbling into Criminology instead, Shane Hollander is determined to make things work with a detective agency right outside of Montreal. But when his first assignment is to work with Ilya Rozanov, the agency's resident PI with a secret past, he's not so sure he'll make it here, either.
or, a 90's-inspired X-Files-esque mystery romance AU in which Hollanov are two very different investigators forced to work together while unintentionally falling for each other.

Technically, Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander meet at a club. The gun shot wound is a bit of a mood-killer, but I'm sure they'll make it work.
